ISLAMABAD: Patchamuthu Illangovan, country director of the World Bank (WB), called on Finance Minister Ishaq Dar here on Thursday and discussed with him issues of mutual interest. Speaking on the occasion, Illangovan said that WB President Dr Jim Yong Kim was impressed by the economic progress made by Pakistan during the last two years. He said that Kim had asked the WB country office in Pakistan to work closely with the government for measures aimed at enhancing growth and the ease of doing business. He said the WB president had noted with appreciation the way cooperative federalism worked in Pakistan. The WB team led by Kim had very useful interaction with the federal and the provincial authorities and the bank regarded this visit as very successful. The minister discussed with the WB country director the initiatives to improve nutrition and promote alternate energy. He exchanged views with Illongovan on several ongoing projects being financed by the WB.
