Govt wont leave martyrs families in quagmire

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the Punjab government is compensating the martyrs’ families under the special package announced to take care of families of martyred police personnel.
“Wellbeing of families of police martyrs is our responsibility and this responsibility will be fulfilled at every cost,” said the chief minister while addressing a ceremony held at the Central Police Office in connection with the ditigisation of Punjab police stations.
The chief minster honoured those policemen and police officials who sacrificed their lives for the motherland. “The nation feels proud over the immortal sacrifices of police officers and jawans. The great sacrifices of the martyrs are a loan, which the nation cannot repay. These great sacrifices of martyrs are also very dear to Allah Almighty,” he said.
He paid rich tributes to police personnel, who had sacrificed their lives in war against terrorism. He said the prime minister’s package for the families of martyred police personnel was being implemented successfully.
Meanwhile, the chief minister said that work on the Punjab Safe City project was under progress. He said that the project would also be started in other mega cities of Punjab.
Referring to the successful holding of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final match in Pakistan, the chief minister said, “It was a result of collective efforts that the final match was conducted successfully in Pakistan.” He appreciated Punjab police, law enforcement agencies and all those who made it possible to hold the PSL final in Pakistan.
In a veiled reference to his political opponent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, the chief minister said those catapulted to fame by virtue of this game were opposing to hold the PSL final match in Pakistan. “I could not understand even today that why did they oppose it, and what should I comment over it,” he said and added that all departments did a wonderful job collectively to make the final match a success.
He said that improvements were being made through the support of information technology in police system. “Front desks have been set up at police stations and now women can also lodge their complaints by visiting police stations. The issue of delay in registration of FIRs has been redressed to a large extent. People have been facilitated through the revolutionary changes brought in by the digital technology in police system.” Similarly, he added that the service record of police officers and officials had been computerised.
The chief minister also directed the chief secretary to digitise the record of administrative officers. “No other government has given such an enormous development budget for police in Pakistan.”
Separately, the chief minister has said that Pakistan is moving towards the destination envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
“The country is moving towards progress and prosperity under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. The national economy of Pakistan has been strengthened as a result of holistic economic policies and renowned international organisations are also openly recognizing the economic turnaround in Pakistan.”
He said that billions of rupees have been saved by ensuring transparency in development projects and added that decrease in corruption in Pakistan had been acknowledged by the world.
The chief minister expressed these views while talking to former member National Assembly Umar Ayub Khan who called on him on Saturday.
